Countless Concerned Citizens of Cambridge, MA
To address the dearth of social, fitness-focused opportunities at HLS following the COVID-19 pandemic, the inaugural HLF season was organized in the spring of 2022. Nearly 200 students joined by Opening Day, which exceeded all expectations. Play continued throughout that semester, and when our peers returned to Cambridge in the fall, the league expanded to 250 participants- approximately 15% of the Harvard Law School student body. With growth came changes- HLF is now an official 501(c)3, led by a handpicked executive board, and the 2023 Spring season promises to be our best yet.
The new executive team, hand picked by our first commissioner, is tasked with ensuring a new generation of students gets to experience HL Football. They are all captains of teams in the league, and they have an intimate understanding of the essence that makes HLF special. With the help of all participants, particularly team captains, they are well-positioned to carry the torch into a bright future for the league.
We exist for our mission, which itself comprises multiple goals. In short, our aim is to create community, cultivate connection, and promote physical and mental wellness. As an unofficial student organization, our reach is not limited to HLS but instead extends beyond the boundaries of campus and into our Cambridge community more broadly.
Questions or comments about HLF? Send us a message, and we will get back to you soon.
